Problem Drinking/Alcoholism is a common disease and is thought
to affect up to 10% of the population. If drinking alcohol causes an individual problems in their life
that they would rather not have, they have a drinking problem known as alcoholism - the diagnosis is that simple. The
negative stigma attached to the term 'alcoholism' or 'alcoholic' means that many problem drinkers deny they are sufferers,
and as a consequence they don't seek the urgent help they need. Alcoholism is a disease that gets progressively worse over
time, eventually killing the very vast majority of sufferers. Do you or a family member need advice or help? Alcoholism is associated with alcohol dependence. Drinkers who
have become dependant on alcohol must not attempt to stop drinking without professional assistance. I cannot provide the professional
assistance needed to detox, but I can advise on how you or your family may obtain help and embark on treatment and recovery. Alcohol
dependence is a devastating and life threatening condition. So, if you feel you have become dependant on alcohol, or
feel that drinking is causing problems in your life, you need help and advice as soon as possible. I
am myself an alcoholic (although I no longer drink alcohol). I stopped drinking once I had all the facts pertaining to my
illness, unfortunately for me, it took me 4 years to find the facts out. I offer free and confidential advice via. telephone.
My aim is to help sufferers to understand the facts of the illness (as quickly as possible), and to provide them with
insights into my own experiences. By doing this, I hope the fear of detox and rehabilitation will be reduced, and the sufferer
and/or their family member(s) can plan the necessary treatment with confidence, and above all, avoid many of the pitfalls
that met me. If
